Lorne's Bio

Lorne Joblin, a musician from Christchurch who loves playing, writing and listening to all kinds of music. He is a multi-instrumentalist who enjoys composing his own songs and exploring different instruments and genres. Lorne first found his love for music after getting a plastic toy guitar for Christmas when he was 9 years old, it wasn’t long after on his 10th birthday that he got his first real guitar and began lessons.

He first saw success with one of his originals in intermediate School with a song called Shaken, written about the Christchurch earthquakes. His song was sent up to Tauranga to be used as a teaching aid. At the 2016 voices festival Lorne was awarded best solo vocalist for his solo in the song “Somewhere Only We Know” with the Mairehau High School Choir. In his second to last year of high school Lorne was awarded with the First Foundation scholarship which allowed him to further his musical passion into a tertiary level of education.

He has now completed a bachelor of musical arts at ARA music arts in Christchurch and is near completion of a Graduate Diploma in Secondary Teaching. Throughout his time studying Lorne gigged frequently all around Christchurch, playing many solo acoustic shows and duo shows. He also plays drums for Christchurch based group GENZED, guitar for multiple groups playing many different genres (Rock, Blues, RnB, Pop) as well as fronting for his band CORTICERA.

 

Lorne was invited into The Brothers Grimm in 2020 and has enjoyed being part of a well-established group, bringing his own musical influences and suggestions into the already vast repertoire of the band.
